Dear NetPro gurus,

One of my customers have recently bought a brand new Cisco CallManager 8.0.  They have also purchased a lot of Cisco 9971 phones with it.

For the Receptionist, they are also using the Cisco 9971 phones.  What my customer wants to know is if i set the following settings for the Receptionist's 9971 phones, will it actually allow the call waiting to work for 99 inbound calls simultenously?? Or what is the maximum number of inbound calls a Cisco 9971 can handle??

Under the line level of the Receptionist's 9971 phone:

Maximum number of calls = 99
Busy Trigger = 99

Cheers,
Hunt

It should work. However if they are really expecting the poor operator to handle 99 calls at the same time with just a phone, they would need to look at CUxAC instead so this is easier for anyone to handle.

Hello Java,

But since the 9971 has 6 session lines, how does the 99 calls works?? Does it goes like...

1st call rings on 1st session button

While the 1st call is talking,

the 2nd call rings on 2nd session button

While the 2nd call is talking and 1st call is on-hold

the 3rd call rings on 3nd session button

While the 3nd call is talking and first 2 calls are on-hold

the 4th call rings on 4th session button

While the 4th call is talking and first 3 calls are on-hold

the 5th call rings on 5th session button

While the 5th call is talking and first 4 calls are on-hold

the 6th call rings on 6th session button

While the 6th call is talking and first 5 calls are on-hold

What happens to the 7th call, 8th call..... 99th calls etc??

Cheers,

Hunt

That's a whole different thing you're talking about.

One is the number of calls PER LINE (what you changed) and the other the number OF LINES ON PHONE.

You can have several calls PER LINE, only one active at any given time.

What you configured is that ALL calls will reach only 1 LINE, and you'll have 1 call active and N calls on hold

Obviusly you can't have 99 calls, 1 PER LINE since you don't have 99 buttons on 1 phone.

Also your config of 99 in both settings is not what you would need to configure to cascade calls.

If you want yo handle the 99 calls, 1 per line you need 3 expansion modules.

Six  lines expanding to 114 with 3 key expansion modules

The phone offers many  speed dials and programmable features, so you can follow the activity of  many lines. Up to 200 calls per device are supported.

Per phone: One call active, the rest on hold.

Use the scroll key to move between the calls on a line and hard key for resume/hold a call.

Use the line button to move between the lines.

If you take one call, the currently active call will be placed, automatically,on hold.
