CUCM 8.0 upgrade--Community Feedback

We currently have a pub/sub cluster running 7.1.2 and would like to upgrade to 8.0(3a).  This will our very first upgrade to CUCM systems.  We do have experience with upgrading our vm server to Unity connection 8.x. which took about 5 hours from start to finish.  The upgrade went as planned but we ran into licensing issues towards the end which required us reload all of our licenses.

So with our latest upgrade experience with Unity connection we would like to modify our upgrade strategy in order to reduce our upgrade time. We will load the 8.x software on both servers during the week during off hours and move to the upgraded partitions on both servers during our maintenance window.

We would like to get feedback from the user community on similar experiences with upgrading to rls CUCM 8.x and whether you encountered any licensing issues.

One thing to be aware of if you're installing the update during the week and then switching versions to boot off the other partition over the weekend, any changes made from the time the upgrade is done during the week to when you switch versions will be lost.  The update takes a spanshot of the database at the time of the update.
