Simple question - what is meant by an L2 upgrade verses a Refresh upgrade in the Release Notes?

Thanks!

CUCM 8.6(2a)su1 Upgrade Question

This was introduceto differentiate between windows and Linux upgrades.

So W = Windows and L = Linux.

L1 = ES patches

L2 = Upgrades --> The process of moving one version of cucm on linux to another cucm on linux. Example: 8.0 to 8.5.

Hope this answers your question.

CUCM 8.6(2a)su1 Upgrade Question

Thank you very much Luis.  What then, is a refresh upgrade?

CUCM 8.6(2a)su1 Upgrade Question

L2 upgrades are common when going between Redhat versions lower than 5. i.e. if you were going to cucm 5.x, 6.x, 7.x or even 8.5 but the new CUCM 8.6 on Redhat 5, pre-8.6 to 8.6 will not work using L2, instead the RU method was introduced.

This will upgrade your server from earlier version like 7.x to 8.6 copy the db but will required multiple reboots.

The system will decide automatically whether to perform either L2 or RU base on the version you are running and the release that you are going to.

MCS 7825/28 H3 will be prompt with an additional upgrade option which is RU H3. This will required a USB key with a least 16 GB to backup the data before the upgrade is performed.

Hope this answers your question.
