First you can only restore to the exact same version that the backup was taken.  So if the restore is done on 8.5 it would have to be a backup from 8.5, so it would prompt for a new security password if there is a mismatch.

It will prompt you for previous password

You'll be prompted for the "old security password" that was in place when the backup was taken only on CUCM 8.5(1) and later.

Hi Joe

it will prompt for the old password ONLY if teh version that i took the backup was 8.5 and later?

For example if the backup was for 6.x and the new security kye is different for the security kye that i had when the backup was placed then it will NOT ask for  the previous secutity kye right?

The backup was taken at 6.x version

so it will not prompt for the old security password

Thanks joe

Got it, correct it would not prompt for the security password on the DRS page when trying to restore it.  In your case you would need to change the security password on the server you are trying to do the restore on to match the security password of the backup file.

The version in my case is 6.x

so we are ok

thanks joe
