CUCM port usage - TCP 4000-4005

Hi everyone,

I checked the CUCM port usage.

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucm/port/8_6_1/portlist861.html#wp42045

4000 - 4005 / TCP

These ports are used as phantom Real-Time Transport Protocol (RTP) and Real-Time Transport Control Protocol (RTCP) ports for audio, video and data channel when Cisco Unified CM does not have ports for these media.

RTP is usually on UDP. So i'm confusing...

When i install the FW betweenw CUCM & IP Phone NW, is it enough to open the TCP port 4000 - 4005 not UDP?

Under what circumstances are these ports used??

Regards,

Kazu

These ports are not used for rtp. These are used for things like moh etc. moh uses port 4000. I suggest you open this port range if you want moh to work.
