CUE Upgrade from 8.6.1 to 8.6.7 version

Hi Tan,

can somebody tell me In what case is used command "software install   clean" and in what case is used command "software install upgrade"?

A "software install  clean" is used when you would need to do a fresh install, while the

"software install upgrade" would be used for upgrading from 8.6.1 to 8.6.7

As per document and command reference:

Several processes are available for upgrading Cisco Unity Express  software. Choosing a process depends on the type of upgrade required.

Upgrade installation—Upgrade using the online installer with the software install upgrade command. This process is available for upgrading from the previous  software release to the current one, such as upgrading from 2.1.3 to  2.2.

Using this process, the system remains operational while the new  software files are downloaded in the background. Only an FTP server is  required. See "Upgrading the Previous Software Image" for more details.

Clean installation—Upgrade using the online installer with the software install clean command. This installation process is available for upgrading licenses  and for upgrading software releases later than 2.0 to the current one.

Using this process, the system remains operational while the new  software files are downloaded in the background. For a new license, you  must back up and restore configuration files; for a new software image,  you must back up and restore both configuration and data files. Only an  FTP server is required. See "Upgrading to a New License" or "Installing a New Software Image" for more details.

Clean installation with the boot helper—Upgrade using the boot helper with the software install clean command. This clean installation process is available for upgrading  licenses, upgrading software releases prior to 2.0.1 to the current  release, and when the other upgrade processes are unsuccessful.

Using this process, the system must be offline while the new software  files are downloaded. This installation erases and repartitions the disk  before loading the new files on the disk. You must back up and restore  your configuration and data files. Both an FTP and a TFTP server are  required. See "Installing a Software Image Using Boot Helper".

Kindly rate the post accordingly.

Kevin

CUE Upgrade from 8.6.1 to 8.6.7 version

Hello

software install clean —Downloads and installs all files for the           clean method using locally downloaded files.

This is aclean installation that "cleans" the disk by erasing any existing  configuration and voice-mail data, repartitioning the disk, and loading  all new files on the disk. You must back up your configuration and data  files before starting the clean installation, and restore the  configuration and data files after the installation

software install upgrade —Downloads and installs all files for the           upgrade method using locally downloaded files.

This procedure does not erase any existing  configuration or data. You do not need to back up your current  configuration and data files because the disk is not cleaned. Your  current installation is upgraded
