Hi,

I would need some help to find a DECT solution can work with Cisco Callmanager Express.

Which vendor / protocol can interoperate with cisco IP phones, if voice mail (CUE) can also work smoothly with the 3rd party DECT phones?

Any help is welcomed!

Thanks in advance!

Regards,

Tibor

DECT phone(s) ----radio link----base  station(s)----SIP/H323/ISDN_trunk----CME---SCCP---cisco IP phones

Hey,

If you use SIP, are you going to be looking to register your sip endpoint with CCME, or just pass SIP traffic/requests etc...to CCME?  Cisco doesn't support any third party SIP phones on CCME, but it is possible to integrate third party phones...if you're looking to register them.

If you're looking to pass SIP traffic/requests to CCME then this is easy, you need inbound dial-peers for traffic from the base station and an outbound SIP dial-peer pointing traffic to the base station.

Also, H323 or ISDN could definately work as well, H323 is peer to peer protocol, just like SIP, so all you'd need is an inbound H323 dial-peer for inbound traffice to CCME or an outbound H323 dial-peer to point traffic to the phone.

ISDN would def. be possible as well, you'd need to use either a T1 VWIC card and configure it for ISDN/PRI or a BRI card...either will work, and the rest is just POTS dial-peer config.

We don't have any sort of specific docs for this, but if you let us know what you're looking to do, or how yo want to integrate...or more specifically, what the base station can do, let us know and we can figure someting out possibly.

By DECT are you reffering to plain Digital Corless Telephones (Digitally Enhanced Cordless Telephone) like you'd use at your house?

If so, CME will in fact work fine with this...all you need to do is plug the DECT phone via 2 pair rj-11 cable into an FXS port, plug the phone into a wall jack for power and configure your POTS dial-peer as usual.  You should then recieve dial-tone from the FXS port and be able to dial out your PSTN ckt. like the IP phones.  This isn't only CCME, it'll work on any FXS port on a Cisco voice enabled router.

For it to work with CUE for voice-mail, you'll need to configure SCCP on CCME and register the FXS port the phone is plugged into via SCCP protocol, so it looks like an IP phone to CCME:

Hello Dave,

Thanks for your reply!

In this case the topology more sophisticated, please see below some explanation and topology:

There would be base stations spread over customer site, provide coverage for the DECT phones.

These base stations need to be connected to the CME via IP (SIP/H323/SCCP??) or ISDN trunk (IP trunk would be preferred).

DECT phone(s) ----radio link----base station(s)----SIP/H323/ISDN_trunk----CME---SCCP---cisco IP phones

Thanks again for your help and time!

Best regards,

Tibor
