We have two CUBE routers, One in HQ, the other in DR. We have CUCM cluster that spans HQ and DR.
CUBEs connect to CUCM via SIP trunk.
Both CUBE routers are configured identically with dial-peers prioritized. When we do our annual DR test, we shut everything on the HQ side down and test for two days. Session target 126.96.36.199 is not available as it's switchport is shut down.
During that time, there are some calls and FAXs that do not go through and the caller receives a fast busy. I discovered that the dial-peer hunting is not going to the "preference 2" dial-peer.
Per TAC, this is correct operation because DR CUBE is not receiving anything from session target 188.8.131.52 to indicate the call is not reaching it's destination, so we get fast busy. Also per TAC, there is not anything that can be done about it.
Does anyone have a different take on this?
One thing that can be done is on the DR CUBE, move the "priority 1" to "priority 3", but there are a lot of other dial-peers that point to the HQ side. In the event of an actual disaster and that seesion target is unavailable, do all of the voice gateways have to be reconfigured to allow calls to go through?
The short answer is that you don't.... That isn't entirely true while at
the same time it kind of is, but for the most part you don't configure
the softkeys. You enable or disable them via TCL. Here is the long
answer. Be sure to read the whole thing or e...
