Hi.
I have two 2811 routers configured with Call Manager Express with one 7940 phone connected to each one of them.
When I configure unfer "dial peer" the command "codec g729r8 bytes 60" everything works fine.
when I am changing to "codec g729r8 bytes 80" the router accepts the configuration but I can not pass the voice.
Any idea why?
Thank you.
Danny.

Most likely, the codec does not support more than 60 bytes of sample for G.729, but because of some kind of bug, it is not made evident at configuration time.

Thank you for your answer.
I have another two 2650 router and on those Routers it is configured to use G729r8 with Bytes 140.
Any other idea?

I should have said 'do not support 60 bytes', not 'more than 60'....
have you verified if it works with 140 bytes on these ? BTW such a large sample time may be impacting negatively the delay budget ...

When I configure the 2811 router with 60 Bytes thw voice works fine.
Configured with 70 or more Bytes, the voice does not pass.
I am not worried about the delay.
Maybe the 2811 do not support more then 60 Bytes? Maybe a DSP is needed?
Danny.

I cannot tell what the problem is, but for sure the 2650 and the 2811 have different DSP types. Usually, bigger sample size than default are not used, so the issue may still be unknown to cisco.

Thank you.
I will open a case in cisco.
Best regards,
