dial-peer to Call Manager

Sorry for the basic questions, but

We have this dial peer created for calls to out DIDs that are originating outside our business and destined for Call Manager:

dial-peer voice 2 voip

description Forward 1xxx to Subscriber

preference 1

destination-pattern 1...

voice-class codec 1

voice-class h323 1

session target ipv4:1.2.1.2

dtmf-relay h245-alphanumeric

fax rate disable

no vad

We are currently receiving the last four digits from the provider.

Where in call manager is this configured to accept these digits from the gateway to be processed?

Re: dial-peer to Call Manager

Thanks,

Is that under "trunk" in call manager?

Re: dial-peer to Call Manager

Usually you would have that configured as H323 GW, but you might have it as H225 trunk. Any of those has the config you need.

Re: dial-peer to Call Manager

Ok,

So, inbound calls will hit the Voice Gateway and depending on how the dial peer is configured, will be passed to call manager and then this traffic will be received by Call Manager per the parameters configured on the "Gateway Configuration" page.

Is this correct?

Re: dial-peer to Call Manager

Yes, even if your DPs are correct but the config in CUCM does not allow the inbound css or the right # of significant digits it won't go thru

Re: dial-peer to Call Manager

But, those parameters are on a different page aren't they?

Calling Seach Space and #s of digits?

It looks like the gateway or trunk is only configured to point to a particular IP Address and allow traffic on a certain port.

Any traffic from this IP Address on this port is configured in Call Manager as voice traffic from the gateway, then it steps through the config from there.

Is this correct?

Re: dial-peer to Call Manager

No, inbound css and significant digits are next to each other in H323 GW config.

CUCM only recognizes traffic from IPs that are configured, if you do not bind the H323 traffic to the same IP you used to configure the GW in CUCM it will be rejected.

Re: dial-peer to Call Manager

Thank you, sorry for the basic questions.

So the communication from the Gateway to CUCM is h323?

Also when using MGCP for call manager to control the gateways, you do not need MGCP locall when call manager is in the same LAN as the gateway, only for remote gateways, isthis correct?
