dial peer

Can someone please explain me what is a dial-peer,i am not able to understand it.

The document says that its like a static routing table....

Well i am still confused about this.I will appreciate if u can explain me with a simple example.What i have understand from the dial-peer is that u r defining a path to a destination pattern,is it like this and to define a path to a destination we use the dial-peer command.

Yes it is so. Perhaps you need to create a lab to try the configurations in practice and you will understand everything easily.
