HI,
dial-peers failover occur based on SIP service status or system status?
Actually, we have two dial-peers configured with preference 1 and 2 pointing to primary and secondary call server.
dial-peer voice 101 voip
preference 1
destination-pattern 5000
session protocol sipv2
session target ipv4:172.42.138.76
dtmf-relay rtp-nte h245-signal h245-alphanumeric
codec g711ulaw
no vad
dial-peer voice 102 voip
preference 2
destination-pattern 5000
session protocol sipv2
session target ipv4:172.42.138.77
dtmf-relay rtp-nte h245-signal h245-alphanumeric
codec g711ulaw
no vad
1. My aim is to have the call routed to the secondary call server if either the SIP service or the primary call server itself is down.
But when SIP service is down, call is being switched to the secondary callserver via secondary dialpeer with preference 2 but the same does not happen if the whole primary call server is down.
2. If both the call servers are down, I need to do a PSTN outbound call from the existing gateway to the other gateway in othe location?
Appreciate your suggestions...

Hi Rafi,
You can try adding this command under your dial peers:
nicmatth-A(config-dial-peer)#monitor probe icmp-ping 1.1.1.1

Hi Nick,
I guess its for the first point.
What does this command do?

It takes the dial peer down if the pings fail.
