DID on CCME

Hi Guys,

What is the best practice for DID on a CCME?

I have 3 banks of DID numbers

587-3616 to 3620

587-3629 to 3633

718-5678 to 5682

CO is sending 7 digits, and customer site has 3 digits extension

I was thinking of this…

voice translation-rule 1

rule 1 /5873616 / /616/

.

.

rule 5 /5873620/ /620/

rule 6 /5873629/ /629/

.

.

rule 10 /5873633/ /633/

rule 11 /7185678/ /678/

.

.

rule 15 /7185682/ /682/

Please recommend any better suggestions? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Are you planing to do a translation rule per ephone-dn?

You can prob. combine them all to two rules, since calls which are not in your did ranges should not be routed to you from the pstn.

Rules can be:

rule 1 /58736/ /6/

rule 2 /71856/ /6/

Also, outbound translation has to be configured, for the calling number.

r u planing to use cue? analog phones?

dialplan-pattern is only applied to ephone-dn's, which might cause issues when you have the above mentioned devices.

No analog phones or CUE. I think you will find that is easy to reproduce the problem, but I didn't bothered to raise a a case with TAC, because I'm happier using translation-profile anyway.

What I did was, under telephony-service

dialplan-pattern 1 5873... extension-length 3

dialplan-pattern 3 7185... extension-length 3

And it seems good. I am not sure if this is a good practice.

Good practice and even better if it works for you. Last time I tried, the second dialplan-patter did not worked. I have to say, it was a different situations, two same DID ranges and and two E1 PRI circuits.

It's a 1 - T1 PRI circuit line, and only for ephone-dn's.

I am using cue, and VM seems to function fine, along with the AA, and transfer to VM.

However I do have 1 DID that is for the Fax. What I did was created...

voice-port 0/1/0

description FXS

dial-peer voice 502 pots

destination-pattern 5873620

port 0/1/1

So far I have tested, and the PRI does ring the FXS port, along with the proper DID's with the correct extention and phone.

I have been reading the translation profile and it seems slick. I might have to tried that too.

Hi,

when connecting fax, I'm usually happy doing like you did (no pun intended :), that is leaving the full number as destination-pattern.

This because is seldom necessary to assign to fax a real extension to be called from within the office.

Thanks for the nice rating and good luck!
