The major difference which i can think and which is obvious hardware in terms of look and screen as compare to both of them. As 7942 support wideband and 6921 does not. Second thing 7942 has Speakerphone, Mute and Headset Buttons however 6921 has only Speakerphone, There are many other feature as compare 7942 to 6921 are there.

Please refere datasheet for 7942 and 6921 for more details

Comparing a 6921 & a 7942 is a bit like comparing chalk and cheese.

The screen on the 6921 is tiny. The screen on the 7942 is massive.

If your budget can handle it, go for the 7942. You won't regret it.

Oh, and the 6921/6941 may be going end of sale soon, too. The new 7821/7841 are the official replacement for the those handsets.

Thanks Rob for making me to stop searching for difference b/w 6921 and 7942, as 6900 is going EOL.

Also i did lot of research... in 6921-C-K9 all features are available like headset, mute, speaker buttons and also soft keys. Only features like display screen and wideband audio is not available in 6900 series.. if am not wrong. Am attaching the snap shot of 6921-C-K9 for your reference.

Now i need to think of 7821 series IP Phones. I was referring the data sheet and in Signalling Protcols it says only SIP ?? Is SCCP not supported by 7800 series ??

Pls suggest on b/w 7821 and 7942 series IP Phones.

New phones nowadays are SIP.  CallManager should be able to support SIP.

Why fear SIP? There is now feature parity for endpoints running SIP & SCCP. (OK, Except for phone VPN support on the 79xx phones)

Cisco have stated that going forward, SIP will be the prefered endpoint protocol (but they will still be supporting SCCP for a long time) Some of the newer endpoints, in fact, only support SIP.
