Displaying multiple incoming calls on secretary phone

Hi everyone,

I'm dealing with an installation of CCME 4.1 and I'd like to know what the best approach would be for a particular need:

The secretary has a 7965G+7914 addon module to allow her to monitor the necessary extensions. Because the CCME system has a number of BRI lines, at times, we can have 6 simultaneous incoming phone calls.

I need to be able to display as many incoming calls as I can on the secretary's 7965G display, so she can then prioritise the calls she wants to answer.

I've tried a few scenarios, but have only managed to get 2 out of the 6 incoming calls being displayed simultaneously.

Any suggestions & config examples are highly appreciated.

Kind regards,

Re: Displaying multiple incoming calls on secretary phone

Try having multiple appearances of the number on the 7965 for example

ephone-dn 1 dual-line

number 5000

name main number

ephone-dn 2 dual-line

number 5000

preference 1

name main number

and so on

then on the ephone:

ephone 1

type 7965

mac-add xxxx.xxxx.xxxx

button 1:1 2:2 and so on

Hope that made some sense to you.

Re: Displaying multiple incoming calls on secretary phone

Kenneth,

Thanks for your reply.

I tried your suggestion but the result was the same. I made 3 incoming calls and could only see the first two numbers that were calling. The third caller simply got a ringing sound but his number was not displayed on the ip phone.

Another wired thing is that the 7965G buttons 2 to 7 showed '60' but only the first one (button 2) was actually ringing with the first two calls. The third call didn't even show up on button 3 as I would have expected.

Here's a snippet of the config:

Re: Displaying multiple incoming calls on secretary phone

Try adding "call-forward busy 60" on ephone-dn's 61-66.

No change, same result !

Re: Displaying multiple incoming calls on secretary phone

Try reconfiguring your ephone-dn's without the dual-line. To do this you are going to need to remove the ephone-dn and then re-add it.

Re: Displaying multiple incoming calls on secretary phone

Removing the dual-line actually made things worse :) I now can only see one line on the display while the rest ring without any indication on the display.

I also tried it by adding " call-forward busy 60" under each ephone-dn, but the result was the same.

Here's the configuration used:

Re: Displaying multiple incoming calls on secretary phone

OK I think I got it this time. Configure the DN's as dual-line, and then add the command "no huntstop" and see if that works.

Re: Displaying multiple incoming calls on secretary phone

Kenneth,

Unfortunately that didn't work either. It seems like I can't get more than two incoming call numbers to be displayed on the 7965G phone !

There must be a way to get more numbers showing on the display.

Re: Displaying multiple incoming calls on secretary phone

I know there is a way. Let me research this some more..Ill get back to you

Re: Displaying multiple incoming calls on secretary phone

On your buttons, have you tried instead of using ":" use a "c" instead? Like this:

button 1:1 2c60 3c61 4c62

button 5c63 6c64 7c65 8c66

button 9c67

Re: Displaying multiple incoming calls on secretary phone

cruea1980 ,

Thank you for your reply. You suggestion did have some results:

1) When specifying 'c' button type, you need to add at least two DN numbers, otherwise the command is not accepted.

2) I added button 2c60,61,52,63,64 .... etc and it seemed to work

The above configuration has all incoming calls fall on to one button, so you get a screen with multiple 'calling party numbers', but they are all binded to one physical button.

I need to spread the result amongst all available buttons e.g from button 2 to 6, and still be able to scroll up/down to see the calling party number.

Any suggestions ?

Re: Displaying multiple incoming calls on secretary phone

I believe you can add all the lines to each button like so:

button 1:1 2c60,61,62,63,64,65,66,67 3c60,61,62,63,64,65,66,67 4c60,61,62,63,64,65,66,67

And so on and so forth. Basically, the "c" means to make an overlay with call waiting. That way you can see who is call waiting on each line, or do something like the following:

button 1:1 2c60,61 3c61,62 4c62,63 5c63,64 6c64,65, 7c65,66 8c66,67 9c67,60

Anyway, manipulate to however you'd like. Basically, just remember that you'll need the "c" on the line to show call waiting.

Something like that.

Oh, and just FYI, when you're configuring buttons on CME, do button 1? and it'll give you all sorts of fun options to put. Some give you silent ring, some give you overlay, some give you overlay with call waiting, etc etc.
