Dear All,
Can we change the license type DLU to UCL without upgrading CUCM version (current v.8.6.2) and without active UCSS/ESW contract?
Thanks.

Hi Frank,
Before u do major upgarde, upload all un-unsed DLUs to Call manager.
Secondly,if u have any free DLUs, that would get converted to UCL Enhanced/ Enhanced Plus after the major upgrade is done . This can be done only after u do successful migration to CUCM 9 or 10.
Further , if u purchase UCL now for CUCM 8 , the same would work as DLU after u upload the licenses in CUCM 8.x.
Un-used DLUs get converted to enhanced UCL be default if u do not mention to licensing team.

Hi Frank,
Analog phones/6901 /3905 do not consume any DLUs but we need to purchase Analog phone Licneses not DLU , had it been DLU case or they were not End of Sale
But now it is UCL essential in CUCM 8 or CUCM 9 since DLU is end of sale.
Device Type - Cost in DLUs
Cisco VGC Phone (Voice Gateway Controlled, e.g. behind VG248)
Cisco VGC Virtual Phone (Voice Gateway Controlled, e.g. behind VG248)
Analog Phone
CTI Port
0 -DLU's

Hi Frank,
Can u explain what is the reason behind this since even if u have UCL , at the backened, DLUs would work in CUCM 8.6.2?
If u are planning to upgrade to major CUCM version , then, u need to have ESW/UCSS contract and used DLUs would get converted to UCL after the mail is initiated to licensing team.

Hi Aman,
Thanks for the reply,
Currently we have only DLU license.
Used -7780
Free - 620
As DLU is going to eos from next january. we cant buy extra dlu bundles.
So i need to convert our all DLU (Used and free ) to UCL but it doesn't required to upgrade cucm version.
( i guess we cant use both licence type at the same time DLU and UCL).
(clarify me if my understanding is wrong)
Thanks.

Thanks Aman.
Its mean i can use both UCL and DLU at the same time (with v.8.6). if i upload LIC-CUCM-9X-USR-A it will work as DLU (at backend)?
and another thing as ex. for cp-7942
with DLU license its required 4 DLU
with UCL license its required 6 DLU (enhanced = 6DLU)
any idea on this?
i dont have access to the above thread link.
Thanks

Hi Fraank,
you cannot use this Part Code and check in Table 2
http://www.cisco.com/web/partners/downloads/partner/WWChannels/technology/ipc/downloads/UC_8_6_OG.pdf
for new purchases:
Start with Top Level part number R-CUCM-USR-LIC
LIC-CUCM-USR-A UCL - 1 Enhanced User, Tier A, 1-999 users
LIC-CUCM-USR-B UCL - 1 Enhanced User, Tier B, 1000-9999 users
LIC-CUCM-USR-C UCL - 1 Enhanced User, Tier C, 10,000 and greater users
LIC-CUCM-BASIC-A UCL - 1 Basic User, Tier A, 1-999 users
LIC-CUCM-BASIC-B UCL - 1 Basic User, Tier B, 1000-9999 users
LIC-CUCM-BASIC-C UCL - 1 Basic User, Tier C, 10,000 and greater users

Hi Frank,
yes, u can mix them. At backened, it is all DLU till CCM 8.
I won't be able to comment on consumption of DLUs in UCL.
We can wait if somebody expert on this part helps us else request u to open a new thread.

Hi,
Just one more things to clarify.
Currently we have (20 analog phones) VG224 + cp-6901
If i use DLU+UCL at same time how license allocated with these analog and 6901 phones?
With DLU - no license required.
With UCL - Essential required.
Thanks.

Hi Frank,
Just refer this discussion. In CUCM 8.x , no DLUs are consumed for analog/3905 IP phones.
https://supportforums.cisco.com/discussion/11824511/ucl-and-vg248
Further, if u are purchasing licneses for Analog /6901/3905 , u need to have UCL Essential license.

Hi Aman,
I understood what you mentioned above. but in my case.
Currently im using DLU and i need to purchase UCL (because DLU is going to eos). and as you told, in cucm 8.6 UCL act as a DLU at the backend (when i mixed DLU and UCL in same server ). so can we add new analog phones without (UCL-essential).
If i use only UCL i know for analog phones its required UCL-essential.
Hope you will understand my situation.
Thanks
