Hi,
Cisco have provided us with download access to the following CUC upgrade ISO:
UCSInstall_UCOS_8.6.2.21016-1.sgn.iso
The above image won't fit on a standard DVD so I'm having to burn it to a Dual Layer disk.
Does anyone know whether the standard DVD drive fitted on an MCS7825i4-K9-UCB1 server will support dual layer DVD's. I've had a search but can't find the answer and unfortunately I'm not in a position to try the disk in the server until the weekend.
I only want to upgrade via SFTP as a last resort.
Regards,
Mark

Hi Mark,
Cisco refers in documentation to your server that they use IBM DVD Drive Part Number 4144.
IBM lists it as "CD-RW/DVD Combo V Ultrabay Enhanced".
http://www-03.ibm.com/systems/xbc/cog/Withdrawn/x3455_7940/x3455_7940hdd.html
Unfortunately I could not find if it's dual-layer capable or not.
By the way, you don't have to use SFTP for upgrade - I prefer FTP since it less CPU intensive for both server and client.
Makes real difference in download time sometimes.
Cheers,
Boris

Thanks for your time and effort Boris,
I'll find out on Sunday if the DVD is capable fo reading the dual layer disk.
Only avoiding FTP/SFTP as it can be a pain getting a server on to the network when there is more than 1 customer involved in the chain.
Regards,
Mark

Hi,
We successfully performed the upgrade on Sunday and can confirm that the DVD drive read the dual-layer disk without any problem.

Mark
