Dry Closure on IP Phones

Hey folks.

We have a few 7960s and we are setting up a whole new callcenter/dispatch. Anyway, the callcenter uses touch screen terminals, and can interface with 2 way radios as well as the phones, provided the phones support a "dry closure" connection. (This allows the dispatch software to 'quiet' the radio when you are on the phone and vice versa).

I have been told that none of the Cisco IP phones support dry closure. So, what are my other options?? It's a little bit emabrassing to see hundreds of thousands of dollars of communication equipment operate together seamlessly, but see a few Cisco phones not able to join the party.

Hi,

Cisco has developed a whole set of solution to interface radio, look on CCO for "land mobile radio architecture". These will use E&M interfaces and the "phone patch" box that interfaces to the radio itself. Check it out, if it not what your radio uses, let us know what exactly "dry closure" is.
