dsp on ip phone

Hi,

I understand that there are dsp on IP phone. Can i get an explanation when exactly these dsp on ip phone will be used.

Hi Prakash,

Every time you make a call. I deal with DSPs on a daily basis, and I have never had to worry about the DSP on the phone. All of the powerful DSP functions happen somewhere else, and only basic functionality happens on the IP phone.

Hi Sandeep,

They are for decoding RTP audio codecs into the handset. That's it. They will also do some basic input gain for the volume setting.

In addition to the previous information, the DSP of IP Phone may be used as a Conference Bridge to mix three G.711 audio flows, only when the Barge function is used.
