DSP resources on H323 gateway

Hi

I have the following setup at a client ,they have Point-to-Point WAN link between RSA and UK ,with H323 gateways on both sides of the link ,the gateways connect to CUCM 7.1.3 clusters on each end. When i send a call across this link it uses 2 DSP channels for each call across the gateway ,is there a way of setting up this scenario without using DSP resources on the gateways ? And if it is possible what would the cons be of doing this ?

Thanks

Trunk the CMs directly, there is no need to use gateways.

Maybe they have gateways for a design reason, such as 'address hiding.'

DSPs are only necessary for this call flow if a codec mismatch needs to be transcoded.  There is no cons to not invoking a DSP.

Uncheck MTP requrired from the H323 gateway configurations, if that is on there.  Then, make sure you don't have a codec mismatch anywhere (take note what inbound dial-peers you are hitting, and run 'debug voip ccapi inout' if you aren't sure).  And make sure you are using h245-alpha for a DTMF relay.
