DX650 WallPaper

Leonardo Santana

Hello,

Im trying to upload an wallpaper to DX650 but its not working

I use this procedure:

Step 1  Assign wallpaper control to the administrator.
Step 2  Upload the wallpaper to the Desktops/1600x1280x24 directory of the TFTP server, and restart the TFTP server.

Wallpaper images can be JPG, PNG, or BMP files. The optimal image size for wallpaper is 1600 x 1280 pixels.

Step 3  Go to Device > Device Settings > Common Phone Profile.
Step 4  Set Background Image to the desired wallpaper.

If an invalid file is specified, the phone will revert to the default wallpaper. there is no status message logged for this failure. The following error message is added to the device output log.

Decode failed for Admin provided image file <admin_file_name> Invalid image file provided. Cannot set as wallpaper!

The image is on the right format.

Hello Jaime,

The only way to set up the image is through the TFTP of CUCM?

This is my xml:

<CiscoIPPhoneImageList>

<ImageItem Image="TFTP:Desktops/1600x1280x24/IP_Comunicator_Thumbnail.png"
URL="TFTP:Desktops/320x212x12/dx650.png"/>

</CiscoIPPhoneImageList>

Any TFTP you like, as long as your phone is configured to point to that TFTP server, but you need to follow the same config you would do for doing this from the phone

java

Ok,

But the wallpaper did not appear on the phone.

Hi @Leonardo Tadeu,

  • How are you naming the .xml file? It has to be named as "List.xml" (Case sensitive)
  • I personally prefer to save the images files as .png files because it has always worked for me
  • Also, change something in the .xml file:
    • From
    • ImageItem Image="TFTP:Desktops/1600x1280x24/IP_Comunicator_Thumbnail.png"
    • URL="TFTP:Desktops/320x212x12/dx650.png"/>
    • To
    • ImageItem Image="TFTP:Desktops/1600x1280x24/IP_Comunicator_Thumbnail.png"
      URL="TFTP:Desktops/1600x1280x24/dx650.png"/>
  • In case that you have a cluster of CUCMs, you have to restart the TFTP service in the publisher (if it gives the service to the endpoints) and every subcriber.

Hope this help.

Hello Martin

This is my List.xml:

<CiscoIPPhoneImageList>

<ImageItem Image="TFTP:Desktops/1600x1280x24/dx650.png"
URL="TFTP:Desktops/1600x1280x24/dx650.png"/>

</CiscoIPPhoneImageList>

I restarted the TFTP Service but the image did not appear on DX650.

if you try to set it manually on the phone, what do you see?? what happens??

If it doesn't work if you try this on the phone, it won't work from CUCM config.

Leonardo - I'm in same boat.  Any luck?  Anyone else successfully get this working?

The directions in the Admin guide are not very clear.  I don't see mention that the List.xml file is required.  Also can't seem to find any documentation which states what the syntax should be for the Background Image field.  Is it just the filename, the TFTP path, some sort of special commands?

Thanks,
Dan

Hello everybody,

This worked for me,

- Upload the wallpaper file to Desktops/1600x1280x24 directory, (remember to introduce /Desktops/1600x1280x24 under tftp upload file)

- Then restart TFTP Service under Serviceability.

- Check the correct file under cli: file list tftp Desktops/1600x1280x24/*

- Under Common Phone Profile in CCMadmin modify the following settings:

a) Disable checkbox "Enable End User Access to Phone Background ImageSetting"

b) Apply the file name in the Background Image field, for example  "myimage.png".

- Save and apply configuration.

- Go to device phone and change Common Phone Profile if you create a new profile.

Then you have see the new wallpaper.

Reset DX650 if you cannot see wallpaper.

Please rate useful information.

Best regards.

(Firmware 10.1(1), 10.1(2), 10.2(2), 10.2(4) it is mentioned to Upload the wallpaper on Desktops/1600x1280x24 (directory of the TFTP server) but noticed that the directory mentioned is changed with Phone firmware 10.2(5) as mentioned below.
