E1 SHDSL Modem Connectivity

Hi All,

I have a customer in Egypt moving to IPT. The local Telco can deliver one of the two modem types attached. Does anyone know what i would need to order  for the voice gateway with respect to E1 connectivity to work with these type of modems. Which modem type will be the best to use ?

You need a VWIC E1 or VWIC2 card, and related DSP resources.

Either "modem" will work, but the 2nd has a better brand name.

Does it use standard rj45 or rj48 connectivity ?

Is it configured the same way as a standard E1

One more thing does the second modem give a presentaion of G703 and will i need a converter cable (Balon) or does it have rj45/48 connectivity.

Baluns are never needed with VWIC cards.

Just select the appropriate cable from the Cisco list, or in case of RJ45, do it yourself.

Note, both balanced and unbalanced interfaces are part of G.703 for 2Mbps.
