Dear,

How can we provide encrypted fax on a Cisco UC (T.38 Transmission Over UDPTL, RTP and control traffic) , i know it is feasible, i have seen few documents online.

The follwoing hardware is available.

1- Communication Manager 9.0

2- Cisco ISR G2 (Secure IOS).

3- VG224 or ATA187

4- Traditional Fax machine.

Option 1

We need to encrypt fax up to the VGW.

FAX ---> ATA/VG224 ----> VGW ---> PSTN

Option 2

FAX ---> ATA/VG224 ----> VGW ---> PSTN  ----> VGW -----> ATA/VG224 -----> FAX

Please advise if addiional HW/SW/Licensing is required.

IOS gateways support UDPTL for t.38 only and it doesn't support SRTP. If you want SRTP to work for faxing then you should use passthrough (modem NSE based passthrough for faxing b/w cisco gateways and protocol based fax pass-through for interop b/w cisco and another PBX/vendor). Cisco fax relay also supports SRTP for faxing but it is out dated and not supported on ISR G2 routers.
