End user has requested that MWI flash when a message is received

Good Day All,

I have an end user who has requested that the MWI indicator flash when a message has been left on the phone.

The phones are deployed in an aged care facility.

The Cisco Call Manager cluster is running version 4.2 and Unity Connection 6.1.

I had initially told him this was not possible at all, but he said that this feature was working at a minesite that he had worked in previously.

Thanks very much for any assistance.

Regards,

Amanda Lalli-Cafini

There are 2 MWI settings that you can control and they are configured at the line level within the phone configuration.

Visual Message Waiting Indicator Policy

Use this field to configure the handset lamp illumination policy. Choose one of the following options:

Use System Policy (The directory number refers to the service parameter "Message Waiting Lamp Policy" setting.)

Light and Prompt

Prompt Only

Light Only

None

Setting applies only to the current device unless you check the check  box at right (Update Shared Device Settings) and click the Propagate Selected button. (The check box at right displays only if other devices share this directory number.)

Audible Message Waiting Indicator Policy

Use this field to configure an audible message waiting indicator policy. Choose one of the following options:

Off

On—When you select this option, you will receive a stutter dial tone when you take the handset off hook.

Default—When you select this option, the phone uses the default that was set at the system level.
