I have one 2811 and a catalyst 3560 connected to another network. in this catalyst I connect an ephone 7940 and when I do a Ping to this ephone from the router it lost one packet each 10 more less, ?any ideas?
The IP phones intentionally do not respond to EVERY PING, in order to protect them from DoS attacks. I have found it's been more like 1 in 5. Best thing to do is PING from a PC attached to the back side of the phone to test for physcial connectivity issues to the core; however, since you're on a different VLAN from the phone (should be), it will not test routing to the phone.
