fallback using dial-peer preferences

Hello, in a single site topology, If I have a single gateway router with both voip and PSTN interfaces, is it correct to implement "preference" values within the dial-peers as a form of fallback ?

For instance, If I want to use a voip dial-peer as my preferred egress route, and a POTS dial-peer as a fallback route, could I simply set a lower preference value within the voip dial-peer ?

Is this how fallback redundancy from WAN to PSTN is normally done when you only have a single gateway router within a single site topology ?

Thanks for clarification.

Yes, you can use it with any combination of VOIP and PSTN interfaces as you wish.
