A customer wants to bring a FAX-2-email solution in-house. They have a 2901 with a PRI and a BE6K. They are currently using a hosted service but due to the FAX volume they handle they thing it might be cheaper to have a FAX-2-email solution.
I've taken a look at a tcl script and I ran into a Cisco document for a Cisco FAX Server (http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/voicesw/ps6789/ps7046/ps6178/product_data_sheet0900aecd802638f9.html
Any ideas ? what would be another cost efective yet reliable otion ?
So last I heard The CISCO Fax server was End of Life. Someone can correct me if I am wrong.
As far was another cost effective solution we use http://xmediusfax.sagemcom.com/
Cisco FAX server has been end of life, there are other 3rd party solutions out there one of them being RightFax which is what Cisco recommends. Another 3rd party solution is Xmedius which is also a decent product.
Please rate useful posts.
Cisco is only recommending RightFAX because that's who they used to OEM and they don't want to burn a bridge. OpenText is expensive, esspecially for support. I have never had a good experience with that product.
XMediusFAX has a good reputation and is what I push customers to but there are nearly a dozen other options in the marketplace.
I ll take a look at some other options. Right now RightFAX looks pretty good as we are also resellers.. so it is easier from the sales standpoint.
If you want a cheap, quick and dirty way of doing this i believe you can user a router and use FaxOnRAMP. This basically maps an email address to a phone number. I have never configured this myself but a colleage of mine has and says it works pretty well.
Thanks Matin! yeah, I saw the TCL script... I kind of want to try it and see how it works. I see that as a good solution for low trafic but not sure if it is the way to go for a considerable FAX load.
Have a look at 2Ring BUSINESS FAX, www.2Ring.com/NetFAX. It supports T.37 T.38, and G.711, and provides many great faxing features for a great value. A free trial download is also available at the website.
