Few Basic doubt in CCNA Voice

Hi all,

I am new bee in Voice, and  just want to do some simple lab practice, So  i have a windows xp vm  machine running cisco ip communicator and routers running 7200/3745  series in Gns3.

I have few Questions . like...

1. which model of phone should i load(using tftp-server and load command) in cme router for cisco ip communitor phones ?

(There are few folders with the phone model (7960. 7940 etc) in cme router, but no folder or file for cipc phones)

2. Is there any difference bw telephony-service version and cme version.?

Because  i have seen in 3745 series router, when i type "show telephony-service"  , it is showing 4.x and in 7205 router it is 9.x

3. Can i upgrade the cme version just by uploading the latest cme-full-x.x.x.tar file in 3745 router?

Answer will be appreciated.

Regards,

Ashraf

The version of the CME is depending on the IOS-Version. Here is a list which IOS-version gives you which CME:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucme/requirements/guide/33matrix.htm

For your CCNA-Voice-preparation I would suggest to use a 15.1(1)T release on the router. This gives you CME 8.0 which matches the version used on the exam. Also load the corresponding CME-software into your router.

For your preparation you can also use the CCNA-Voice course from INE. There are about 25 hours of free video that you can watch on this topic after a registration:

I don't use the CIPC myself, but here is a description on how to set it up:

http://netacad.galileo.edu/netacad/CCNP/Semestre8/V5/en_CCNP_OCN_v5010/en_CCNP_OCN_v5010/PDF/CCNP4_lab_2_1_en.pdf

It's based on an older CME, but I think thatbit still should work that way.

Ashraf,

just add "type CIPC" and mac ID under ephone condiguration it will work.
