fxo port ringing state

I have a FXO port connected directly to an exchange line, when I ring this line and look at the "show vOICE PORT SUMMARY" output I get the following:

Operation Status Status

Dorm ring-det on-hook

up idle on-hook

it alternates between these two states when ringing, is this correct???

Could you provide a sh run of your fxo port....also, where are you pointing this to,fxs/ccm please specify....

ccm should be answering and pass to a DN, ignore the PLAR in this setup.
