h323 signaling bandwidth

Does anybody know the guideline as regards to the amount of bandwidth required for signal in the QOS setting? My scenario is PBX and GW. There no IP phones currently. ALl the calls are from PBX through GW then H323 to remote. Maximum calls is about 100. Do we know how much bandwidth is per H323 call? Thanks

Hello,

Generally,a 5% overhead is used, for example the CCO codec bandwidth calculator uses that.

I find this value very arbitrary and exaggerated, first because after call setup, for example using SIP, there is no signaling transmission anymore, and second because the signaling overhead,if any, would be fixed and not a percentage of the actual RTP traffic.

On the other hand, RTCP that is used together with RTP to carry statistics between endpoints, do use some little bandwidth.

Hope this helps, please ratepost if it does!
