How Do I tie a dial-peer to a specific FXO Port

Hello Voice Experts,

Here is the scenario : we have multiple analog lines and each one is connected to a FXO port and we want to tie some fax machines (Connected Via ATAs) to these analog lines. The ATAs are registered with the CUCM and I have configured the gateway as a H323 gateway. Route-patterns are configured on the CUCM and dial-peers are configured also on the gateway. My problem is when a fax machines ( 411xx90) sends an outgoing fax , it goes out from the wrong FXO port as 441xx77. I know this happens because we have multiple outgoing dial-peers with the same destination-pattern but to different FXO ports. How do I fix this ?

I tried MGCP and it worked great but I faced this problem where the call counter started to count even when the other phone was on-Hook and ringing.

I googled this problem and found this document from Cisco ""FXO Disconnect Problem". I tried the solutions from Cisco but nothing worked

That's why I am trying with H323. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Re: How Do I tie a dial-peer to a specific FXO Port

Hi Mmohammed,

in order to bind a specific extension to a specific FXO port you need to do the following:

voice translation-rule 1

rule 1 /^/ /19/

note: "19" can be any number which you will reference later in the dial peer

voice-port 0/0/0

connection plar opx 5400

description direct line 45366665

caller-id enable

dial-peer voice 200 voip

translation-profile incoming Test

answer-address 5400

dial-peer voice 19 pots

destination-pattern 19T

port 0/0/0

you have to create the above for every direct line.

i hope this will work with you. For me i tested and it is working good.

Try to use "preference" option under dial-peer configuration.
When you have multiple outgoing dial-peers matched at same time the "preference" command specifies the metching order.

The highest priority is given to the dial peer with preference order 0 and it is the default value. You can have a preference value between 0 to 10.

dial-peer voice 100 pots
preference 1       --- Make this the first choice dial peer.
ip precedence 5
destination-pattern 1...
port 1/0/0

dial-peer voice 101 pots
preference 2       --- This  is the second choice.
ip precedence 5
destination-pattern 1...
 port 1/0/1

Re: How Do I tie a dial-peer to a specific FXO Port

Thanks, but this is not what I want. I want for example

Fax machine connected to a ATA and has a Directory Number of 4410290.

DN= 4410290                                               analog line connected to the PSTN and has the number of 4410290

Fax machine 1<--> ATA 1 <---> CUCM <--> H323 Gateway  <--> FXO port 1 <--> PSTN

DN= 4410277                                               analog line connected to the PSTN and has the number of 4410277

Fax machine 2 <--> ATA 2 <---> CUCM <--> H323 Gateway  <--> FXO port 2 <--> PSTN

Sometimes when Fax1 sends an outgoing fax, it goes out from FXO Port 2 which has the wrong number. How do I make outgoing faxes from Fax 1 always go out from FXO port 1 ?
