Hi

There is a tool named DMA (Data Migration Tool) that you install on your CallManager 4.x machine, this creates an exported file containing all your cluster data and an interim license for version 6.

You can then build version 6 fresh from media, and import the exported file from DMA.

Once built, you must send the exported license to Cisco to get a real license to replace it.

Bear in mind that you must first be on a supported version of 4.x as indicated here - so you will need to be on 4.2(3):

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucm/compat/ccmcompmatr.html#wp43011

Secondly, you will need to ensure that your hardware supports CallManager 6, or the install will not run at all. If it's not supported, you will need to buy new servers:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/voicesw/ps6790/ps5748/ps378/prod_brochure0900aecd8062a4f9.html

If would probably upgrade to 4.2(3) first, then upgrade to 6.1(5) using DMA. Read the user guide fully:

As Aaron stated you probably find your CMC servers do not support 6.x so normally you carry out a DMA and then build a new Cluster running 6.x . Create ICT between the two to make sure everything is running ok and the use the result of the DMA received back from Cisco to transfer the "4.x config." to the new 6.x cluster.

Depending on the size of the Cluster and the numbers of handsets it may be best to turn off the old cluster and then re- IP address the 6.X to be the the same as the 4.X - that way you do not need to change the  DHCP Option 150 settings or other other applications pointing the IP address of your cluster. Check the version of 6.x which one support IP address change
