Hi Louis,

In addition to what Mr. Manish has said[+5], you can also refer the IP phone feature and CUCM device pack compatibility matrix.

Hi Nithin,

If you check the latest readme for 9.0

http://www.cisco.com/web/software/282074299/97296/cmterm-devicepack-9_0_1_11013-1_Readme.pdf

It does not have 8831 as an option.

If you check it for 9.1

http://www.cisco.com/web/software/282074299/104182/cmterm-devicepack-9_1_1_21026-1_Readme.pdf

Its there.

So, please upgrade to 9.1 and it will work.

Thanks Aman [+5] for your thoughts as well.

Hi,

probably try by uploading device pack for 8831 SIP phone in call manager else upgrade call manger 9.1version.

Thanks.

Hi Manish,

Thanks for your reply.

I am having 9.0.1 cucm version can i install the device package 9.1 for my cucm.As I can see the software Compatibility for the device package 9.1 is cucm version 9.1.or do i need to upgrade to 9.0.1 to 9.1?

Best Regards

Nithin Louis.

An upgrade to 9.1 is recommended as i believe that there are no software updates being planned for 9.0 version now.

Hi Manish,

Thank you very much for your quick reply.

As I can see in the data sheet for 8831 its supporting the version from 7.1(5), 8.5(1), 8.6(2),9.0, and later. Please find the attached 8831 phone data sheet. Please check Table 1 in page 2 for supported CUMC.

Is it possible without any upgrade to 9.1 ?

Best Regards

Nithin Louis.

Sorry for not attaching the data sheet. Please review the attached file.

Please check Table 1 in page 2 for supported CUMC.

Thanks Manish your point is correct...only solution is upgrade....

Hi All,

I have CUCM version 8.0(3) and option to add 8831 conference phone is not available. Cisco TAC suggests to upgrade CUCM to version 8.5 (1). We can't upgrade CUCM for the sake of one phone model as we have IPIVRs, Peripheral Gateways associated.

Since 8831 is a SIP phone, I am trying to register it as a "Third-party SIP Device". However, it is not registering.

Please let me know if any specific setting has to be done on the phone inorder to register it?

Also, please let me know if there is any device pack available for 8.0(3) to add 8831 phones.

Regards,

Karthik

Latest device pack of  cucm 8.0 does not have the 8831 support

http://www.cisco.com/web/software/282074299/92918/cmterm-devicepack-8_0_3_24051-1_Readme.pdf

There are quite a few threads on supportforums regarding registering 3rd party SIP phones with cucm, please check the config steps once again and let us know if it still does not work.
