hi All

We want our executives to initiate Conference to a group of participants just by calling a single number.
Is this possible ??

Natively in CUCM - no.  I have done something similar in the past with Meeting Place.  I believe Meeting Place Express has the same feature.   Basically, you setup a continuous meeting  (with reserved resources) that is configured to blast outdial to all participants in a list you specify.  One person needs to open the meeting to initiate the blast dial.

See the following link for more info:

Stavros, check out Bill's link.  You have to configure some dial out privileges and such and the Wiki explains in more detail than you'd want here in a NetPro post.  Hopefully we were able to help you out.

BTW - that Bill guy is pretty sharp.

Not knowing your experience with CUCM, it's hard to answer this question given that what you state that you want can be interpreted in 2 ways:  simple or advanced.

Simple - set up a dedicated MML in CUCM that the executives can use to initiate an ad-hoc conference anytime they want.  The other participants just dial that number and are joined automatically.

Advanced - Initiate a conference to a group of participants all at once with little or no interaction from the participants.

Please elaborate on 1) CUCM version 2) what you actually want to do and 3) if you are tied into other conferencing such as MP or MPE or something along those lines (for curiousity).

Re: How to Dial a single number to initiate a group Conference

Thanks Bill - that was what I was getting at with Simple vs. Advanced.  If you are looking to do more

along the lines of the advanced route, then you'd need something like MP or MPE but it's been a while since I've looked at that particular function.

If you just want simple, that's in CUCM and it meets your subject requirement "dial a single number to initiate a group conference" but it may not meet any other implied requirements.

HTH - if so, please rate.

Hailey and bill Thanks for your prompt response.
We have CUCM 7.0.2 with MPE and need the advanced option.
The executives should initiate a conference with pointed participants as simple as possible.

With MPE 2.0, you can accomplish what you need.  You will first need to schedule a Continuous Meeting.  This is done by scheduling a meeting and setting the frequency to "Continuous".  Only system admins can do this.  You will want to add your participants and configure them as outdial participants.  You may also need to ensure that their user profiles allow outdial and that you specify the correct phone number (as dialed by MPE) on each user profile.

You may also want to make sure that the meeting is not publicly listed.

You may also want to configure the meeting as a "direct dial-in" meeting.  See the "Configuring Direct Meeting Dial-In" chapter of the MPE configuration and maintenance guide.
