I have a small UC500 based system with several phones that are used by remote office workers via a VPN. I would like these phones to use the g729r8 codec and added the statement to the ephone config. However the phones still use g711. I think I might need to do more to the telephony setup on the UC500 but not sure what. Seems like maybe I have to setup DSP farms? Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
Re: how to enable remote SCCP phones to use g729r8
After adding the "dspfarm-assist" command I have conflicting information. Using the 7921 handset's menu, I select status and it says it is using g711. From the CME I type "show ephone 7921" and it tells me the preferred codec is g729 but doesn't seem like this is a confirmation that it is actually being used. I am leaning towards the phone being correct and g711 still being used.
