How to manage 7942 device extension and name

I'm quite new to Cisco IP Phones, so this might be completely obvious...

I can't find anywhere on CUE/CUCME or on the device itself to change the extension of the phone, or the name of the phone's user.

ANY help or direction on this would be much appreciated.

On router CLI it is all defined under the ephone-dn settings.

Any reason there isn't a GUI for this?  I haven't done to much with the cisco iOS/CLI, is there a quick newb's guide on getting into this and this process?

If not, I will try to tinker more.  Thanks for at least getting me in the right direction.
