How to setup a test lab with analogue FXO/FXS?

Hi,

We are setting up a test lab for fax server software interoperability testing with cisco ISR fax-gateway (both, inbound and outbound transmissions).

The planned setup includes cisco 2801 or 3725 with network module and VIC cards. I assume that connecting FXO to FXS using RJ-11 cable will help avoiding a third party telephone line simulation equipment. Is it correct, or 4FXO with telephone line simulator is the way to go?

Use an FXS card, to which you connect a fax machine directly.

Thanks. We need to perform stress/scalability testing and use 4FXO connected to 4FXS. 4 fax machines will be over-kill. Would our proposed setup work or not?

Four fax calls will not stress the routers at all.

Use E1 PRI for that.
