Hello,
I'd appreciate input from anyone whos made a H.323 or SIP trunk from a Cisco phone system to an Avaya system, that could take a few moments of their time to explain their experience and their recommendation for this type of integration. Are there any elements or deciding factors to help determine whether to use H.323 or SIP to interconect these systems?
TIA,
Fred

Hi Fred,
From my experience troubleshooting Avaya gateways, I would say your best bet is SIP. I've had significantly more problems with H323. There are some proprietary methods they use that you have to disable, otherwise there are odd results.

Hello,
You should check the Cisco Interoperability Portal. There is information from interoperability tests made with Avaya and CUCM and CUBE.

Is there any best practice approach for designing dial-plans in regards to sending calls across trunks(SIP or h.323)? I'm aware there's quite a few ways to accomplish this... was just wondering if there is a cisco recommended solution or is it a "depends on what best fits the customer's needs" kind of solution.
