We have a few documents that may be helpful.

This is a document that you would use if you decide to put a CUBE (IPIPGW) between CUCM and the PBX:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucme/pbx/interop/notes/519721nt.pdf

The configuration between CUCM and CUBE shouldn't be too different between CUCM and Avaya if you decide to connect directly.

This is what the CUBE(or really, any gateway) to CUCM looks like:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/voicesw/ps5640/products_configuration_example09186a00808ead0f.shtml

CUCM configuration for H323 gateway:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucm/admin/6_1_1/ccmcfg/b06gtway.html#wp1311511

CUCM H323 settings:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucm/admin/6_1_1/ccmcfg/b06gtway.html#wp1312420

I hope this helps resolve your problem.

This should be possible as long as the Avaya PBX supports H323 or SIP.

Thanks. I just found out our Avaya is on H323. Would you have the information on how to configure Avaya and CUCM 7.0 for basic call integration?

So if our CUCM7 is on SIP and Avaya is on H323, does that mean they can't be integrated together or do we have to change the Avaya protocal to SIP?

Hi Julien,

Two options:

You can configure an H323 trunk directly from CUCM to Avaya.

Or

You can add a CUBE (documents above) that will change SIP over to H323

This is very helpfull. Thanks alot Nick,

Nick,

What would you propose for connecting the Avaya to a CM 3.3.3 SR4a which can't be upgraded at this time?

Tried setting up an Inner Cluster Trunk and the Avaya can call Cisco, but Cisco can't call Avaya. SIP is out since CM3 can't do SIP.

Lee

Hi Lee,

A couple things you can do:

1) Add a CUBE and do H323 to CUBE and either SIP or H323 to Avaya. CUBE will allow for greater interworking between the two devices.

2) Work through it and hope there is configuration that will work between the avaya and CCM 3.x. CM3 isn't nearly as flexible as later versions, so this option is dubious, at best.

hth,

nick
