I have a strange issue with the interface going "admin down" during  scheduled backup. I have backup scheduled daily on the CUCM at 2 am. Now  the interfaces(T1 &E1) links goes down and come back up after a minute only on 1 device which is a 2821. Other gateways configured on CUCM is not affected. This does not happen everyday but lets say once a month.

CUCM 7.1.5 is installed

I have part of the sh ver, listed below

I am using System image file is "flash:c2800nm-spservicesk9-mz.124-19.bin"

.........

Cisco 2821 (revision 53.51) with 249856K/12288K bytes of memory.

Processor board ID FHK1215F09R

2 Gigabit Ethernet interfaces

103 Serial interfaces

2 Channelized E1/PRI ports

4 Channelized T1/PRI ports

DRAM configuration is 64 bits wide with parity enabled.

239K bytes of non-volatile configuration memory.

62720K bytes of ATA CompactFlash (Read/Write)

Logging has been setup on the device and I have the logs below.

Any help is appreciated.

Hi Saem,

Does this happen when you do a manul backup also?

Thanks,

Anand

I have not tried a manual backup, however this does not happen everyday, more like once a month.

HI,

Is it H323 to MGCP gateway.

Its just a MGCP GW. Gateway was recently rebooted as a fix but that did not solve the issue. We have the same configuration on other router with no issues.

I have 2x2821 routers and this happens only on one router. The other router is fine with no issues. All interface is UP. I dont know what the link is between the backup scheduled at 2 am and the T1 and E1 going down at that time.

Hi,

In past we had seen one bug which used to shut down the PRI ports when CUCM send reset message to MGCP gateway.

I believe in your case, when back up is happening some how CUCM is sending reset message to MGCP gateway and the ports are getting affected.

See if you can upgrade the IOS on MGCP gateway and issue is still happening.

TAC case would be good if issue happens after upgrading the IOS.

Thanks for your reply Ronak.

But its kinda strange where the PRI interface shuts on one gateway and the other is fine with no issues.

Both the gateways are identical with same IOS on MGCP gateway.

have you tried to rule out coincidence? I.e. set your backup to 3am and keep an eye on it for a month..

Maybe your provider is running something on the PRI's at the same time that brings it down
