What is the difference between the commands "maximum conference participants" , and "maximum sessions", when configuring hardware based CFB's on IOS 15 with pvdm3 modules?
thanks

maximum conference participants = how many conferencees you can have in the same conference. This is completely codec dependant.
maximum sessions = how many simultaneous conferences you can have on that HW

Yes, this helps. What is the default for maximum conference participants? When the ? is used after the command, it states what type of codec is being used, and what values can also be used., in this case G729 How is that determined, as its not the first choice in the profile.

Hi,
A DSP can be configured to support either conferencing, transcoding or MTP sessions, whether the
number of participants refers to the number of conferees supported on a conference. For example, you can
have 8 sessions, with 64 participants each. This will depend on the number of DSPs you have available, on
the type of platform, voice interface, etc.

To configure the maximum number of conference participants allowed in each meet-me conference, use the maximum conference-participants command in DSP farm profile configuration mode. To reset the maximum to the default number, use the no form of this command.
maximum conference-participants max-participants
no maximum conference-participants max-participants
The default maximum number of participants is 8.

It still needs to be updates in order to show the new PVDM3s capabilities, but you can get an idea of how this works.
If you enable more than 1 codec per profile then the maximum is defined by the highest complexity codec.
The ideal use for this command is when you enable just 1 codec per profile.
