assume that i have a CCM in a central site and an IP phone in a remote site that is registered with this CCM, now as i know to have this IP phone get its config files from the CCM the CCM recognizes the MAC of this IP phone, and the IP phone will get its conf file that is named based on its MAC
my question is that how does CCM see or know the ip phone's MAC address in this case, since MAC is locally identified (within LAN) and this is a remote site over WAN, does the ip phone create another session with CCM to request from the tftp its conf file or what happens?
Basically when the phone requests a config file, it requests the filename containing it's MAC address (i.e sep001312341234.cnf.xml or whatever). CCM generates these based on the config in it's database.
When required, the phone can identify itself to CCM by MAC address by inserting the MAC address as an identifier in a higher-layer protocol packet (i.e. SCCP packets).
