Is it possible to set a 7960 with SIP image to answer in headset mode?
We are reconfigureing a bunch of Cisco 7960 IP phones using a SIP image (v8.12 - I think) and would like them to answer as deafult in headset mode. The only option in the config we can see seem to set allows us to get the IP phone to answer in speakerphone mode. We utilise the phones as remote terminals connected to infrared headsets and often the handset is picked up, so taking the phone out of headset mode.

After a lot of digging it looks as though this cannot be acomplished. It appears as if you can't even set the Auto_Answer option in the config file to get the phone to at lease answer automatically in speakerphone mode.
I did find someones script that essentially create a telnet session to replicate button presses, but as our phone are in remote locations managed via the Internet, we have telnet closed and so this will not work for us.

the same time it kind of is, but for the most part you don't configure
the softkeys. You enable or disable them via TCL. Here is the long
answer. Be sure to read the whole thing or e...
