issue with g729 on a 2801

2801 voice gateway pri  pvdm-64.. Local calls

going through the gateway as g711 find. Attempts to have remote phone in a region supporting g729 dead air. Call completes, you can see the phone and gateway negotiate g729 but dead air.  I have transcoders available on another but so what they shouldn't be needed.

Re: issue with g729 on a 2801

Hi there,

Need little more info to advise how to go about investigating this

no-audio when placing a g729 call between GW and phone.

Can u advise what  voip protocol is being between GW and CCM ?

What flavor of g729 codec is being negotiated ?

Do u see Tx/Rx pack counts incrementing on ip phone by hitting

"i" or "?" button twice?

What about GW side packet counts - sh call active voice brief ?

I am assuming you don't have a routing issue - u can ping the phone

from the GW using media inteface - correct ?

Did u verify that if u change region setting to setup a g711 call

between that remote hone and GW, u do get 2-way audio ?

IOS ver on the GW ?

Pl. provide as much details as possible...

Thx.

DK

Check your ethernet interface and verify this command is there.

"h323-gateway voip bind srcaddr xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx" (ethernet address)

Hello,

This command has nothing to do with codec and issue here which is no-audio

when using g729 vs g711. All it does is makes sure that GW is sourcing media/signaling

from the bound interface that CUCM is 'aware' of.

Looking at ques. I raised in my earlier post will help us  narrow down the cause

of no-audio issue.

Thx.
