Max MTP resources

Hi,

It's correct to assume that a 1 Gb NIC in my CallManager supports (in theory) 96 MTP resources?. I know that 100-MB will support 48 and for 10-MB 24.

Regards,

- Adrián.

The resources number is related

with the service parameter of the IP Voice Media Streaming App "call count" in the MTP parameters.

This service parameter is located in Service -> Service Parameters ->

Cisco IP Voice Media Streaming App

This parameter specifies the maximum number of calls that the mediatermination point will support.

By default its value is 48 that stands for 1 MTP resource = 2 streams

which means the default number of MTP resources available is 24.

So to have 48 MTP resources you need to increment the call count to 96.

Increasing this value above the recommended default may cause performance degradation on a Cisco CallManager that is running on the

same server, the exact number of MTP resources that are available depends on the amount of resources that is being consumed by other applications on that PC.

Although the Cisco IP Voice Media Streaming Application service can run on the same PC as the Cisco CallManager, we strongly recommend against this. If the Cisco IP Voice Media Streaming Application is running on the same PC as the Cisco CallManager, it can adversely affect the performance of the Cisco CallManager.

If you need additional MTP Resources, there are 2 ways. You can disable the CCM service on some of your servers and move those phones to other servers, or you can acquire additional servers, install CCM, and enable

IP Voice Media Streaming App only. Again, if a dedicated server is used, it's safe to have up to 48 MTP Resources (96 Streams).
