MCS 7845-H2 vs 7845 H1

I was comparing both models, and was surprised that H1 flavor has a better CPU speed 3.4Ghz than H2 CPU speed at 2.33Ghz.

Both have the same List price, and was wondering why one would choose H2 which has a slower CPU.

Hi Abbas,

The 7845-H1 is End of Life :(

Cisco Systems announces the end-of-sale and end-of life dates for the Cisco MCS 7845-H1. The last day to order the Cisco MCS 7845-H1 is February 13, 2007. Customers with active service contracts will continue to receive support from the Cisco Technical Assistance Center (TAC) as shown in Table 1 of the EoL bulletin. Table 1 describes the end-of-life milestones, definitions, and dates for the Cisco MCS 7845-H1.

From this doc;

Cisco 7845-H1 Media Convergence Server

NOTE: This product has reached end-of-sale or end-of-life status; it cannot be ordered and may no longer be supported.

Hope this helps!

Rob

TO add to Rob's notes, though the Clock Speed mentioned for H2 is less than H1, please note that with H1 you get a "Xeon DP" and with H2, its a "Intel 5140 Xeon DP". These are 2 different generations of processor, therefore the clock speed being lesser does not mean it is an older processor.

Hope this helps
