MGCP Dial-peer question

Set up - MGCP GW connecting to either the Telco or TDM PABX,

Can someone confirm if you use MGCP on a GW that you still need a single Dial-Peer voice POTS with service mgcpapp configured pointing either to the PSTN or other TDM system. I thought when using MGCP you do not need Dial-Peers or is the dial-peer / service mgcpapp needed to route call calls from the PORT to the CCM telling the port is controlled by CCM

When using E1 or T1, you don't have Dial-peers. What you do is tell the controller to be "remote controlled" by mgcp, like this:

controller E1 0/0/0

pri-group timeslots 1-31 service mgcp

When using SRST, you need to configure dial-peers that take over when the connection to the CCM breaks.

Thanks that is what I thought but others have told me to add a voice pots 99901 and use the MGCPAPP commend on the dial-peer

usually you configure the dial-peers for analog interfaces controlled by MGCP but you can also create one for digital interfaces, it's not mandatory to create it
