MGCP E1 Port displays Amber

Dear All,

please help me on solving the below problem

E1 port on 2921 MGCP Gateway displays amber weither it's plugged or not. It is a new configuration

"show isdn status" shows Layer 1 status is SHUTDOWN

1- on gateway

no ccm-manager config server 172.20.0.41   

no ccm-manager config      /you have to edit setting on your config on your CUCM , so better not use these commands?

mgcp call-agent 172.20.0.41 2427 service-type mgcp version 0.1

mgcp dtmf-relay voip codec all mode out-of -band

mgcp bind control sourec-interface ( G0/0) interface which can be reachble to your CUCM

mgcp bind medial sourec-interface ( G0/0) interface which can be reachble to your CUCM

2- on the CUCM the name of your router should be as the below:-

moencovg.moenco.corp

this the same name of your router.

You need to check your cabling. Your e1 controller has alarms on it. I suggest you sort that out first.

Second ensure that your mgcp domain configured on cucm is the same as the mgcp domain name that you see when you do a show ccm-manager

the e1 is displaying amber without any cable being pluged & that's why I'm confused. can you tell me what the reason is ?

The e1 will display amber without any active circuit connection. This is normal. When you plug a cable to your e1 and you have an active connection to your telco, then the light changes from amber to green. If you plug a cable in and the light still shows as amber, then there is a problem either with the cable, your card , framing configuraion or your telco has not activated your line..

Dont waste your time reloading and re-configuring..You need to focus on bringing up your layer 1...which invlolves cabling, framing configuration etc

+5 for MR.Aokanlawon , please check your cable . When you get on layer 1 activated , so we can easily troubleshoot all configuration for mgcp if you will fix any other problem.

after plugging the telco cable and restarting the cucm i can see the E1 is registered to the cucm  but when i make refresh to the cucm interface it immediately changed to  unregistered. why is that ?

Do you have another e1 card? If you I suggest you swap this one out and put that in..Do you also know if this line has been actuvated by your telco?

i don't have another e1 card and the telco already activated the line.

FYI when i did a loopback diag my controller e1 gets up why is that ?

is there any specific framing that i should configure ?
