MGCP E1 PRI Port Registration Issue

Hi,

i'm trying to register 6 E1 PRI ports of  VWIC2-2MFT-T1/E1 cards. I use:

- CUCM 7.1.3

- 3845 Voice gateway

- 3 VWIC2-2MFT-T1/E1 Cards

I followed all guidelines:

- i checked the right Router name and set the IP domain on both Gateway and Call Manager

- Configured the CUCM gateway page

The Gateway gets all configuration from CUCM ( i see mgcp commands downloaded on Router config) and i can see the Gateway IP on the "device---> gateway" page showing the ports. My problem is that the ports are not registered: i noticed that, when Gateway roboots, the ports appeared registered for few seconds but they come back to the unregistered status quickly.

My questions are 2:

- the issue can be caused because i don't have physical connection to PSTN ? I mean that my PRI ports are not connected to telco line

- My gateway is brand new: is there any configuration i must do on the cards/ports before start the MGCP registration process. The only manual configuration i did is the command "card type e1 0 0", "card type e1 0 1", "card type e1 0 2" after installing the cards for the first time in my router.

Thank you,

Roberto

That's expected since you don't really have anything connected.

Once you plug in the telco cable they should register in CUCM.

I'm assuming all your MGCP config is correct for the above to happen.

Hi Javalenc,

thank you for reply. Do you think the command "card type e1 0 0" is enough to initialize a brand new card in a new Router or can i add some other to better prepare hardware to MGCP configuration ?

Thank you,

Roberto
