MGCP Fallback issues

Hi Voice Community,

I recently configured my Voice Gateway (ISR 2921) for ccm-manager MGCP fallback. I was able to register the gateway and the T1 with my call manager (CUCM 9.1).  I also have SRST configured and pointed to the gateway's address as the reference.  I was able to test it successfully making calls out to the PSTN, etc.

Once I took away the connection to the call manager away, the gateway went into SRST mode as it should.  My phones were now referencing the gateway to do the call processings.

My problem is that I performed a "wr mem" while MGCP fallback mode was in "Enable/On".

Once I restored teh connection to the call manager, everything reregistered to the call manager, however I am now getting a fast busy signal when making a call to PSTN via T1/CAS.

I read up that the device runs some type of script in the background once it goes into MGCP fallback mode.  Is there anyway to reverse that?

Try "no mgcp" wait for the teardown and then type "mgcp"

unfortunately, that did not help....

I even tried to wipe the configurations and start new with no success...

Hi Duy,

Bounce the MGCP stack as  Yosh said. Can also post your config for us.

Kevin

Firstly your missing service mgcp under the controller:

controller T1 0/1/0

cablelength long 0db

ds0-group 0 timeslots 1-24 type e&m-wink-start

Secondly missing the bind command:

mg bind media source interface gi 0/0

mg bind control source interface gi 0/0

check the output of the show controller t1 0/1/0, see if its up.

Rate the post accordingly.

Regards,

Kevin

put "ccm-manager config" and then bounce "mgcp"

Hi Duy,

Are you able to receive incoming calls?

Please share the output of "show isdn status" and also share your full running configuration "show runnning-config".

Also let us know which controller you are using.

Here is the doc:
Make sure domain name is right on the cucm:

Show ccm-manager

http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/voice/media-gateway-control-protocol-mgcp/43802-mgcp-t1-cas-ccm.html

@ nishant bud and its T1 CAS "show ISDN status" won't be helpful.

Sent from Cisco Technical Support Android App

It doesn't seems to be domain name issue unless and until domain name is modified because previously it was registered with CUCM.

Before restoring connection with CUCM you saved the configuration that means at this point CUCM is not handling calls and to make voice gateway to be responsible for managing calls and treat it as H.323, system will remove commands responsible for registering with CUCM and to register it with CME.

So when you saved the configuration it is quite possible that again gateway will not register with CUCM due to lack of commands. You could have check the configuration after restoring connection with CUCM.

What you can do is paste the output of "show ccm-manager" and also let us know the status of MGCP gateway in CUCM (registered / unregistered / unknown).

As you have also tried with reconfiguration at this point it should work, provided gateway is in registered state in CUCM.

If it is registered then share output of "debug vtsp all"

Also let us know the IOS version you are running.

@Kevin:- Thank you for drawing my attention.

Hi all,

Thank you all for providing input.

within CUCM, the gateway  and T1 CAS is "registered".

Another thing that I noticed is that my voice port originally started as voice-port 0/1/0:0.  For what ever reason, it is now voice-port 0/1/0:1.  (Im not sure if someone logged in an changed that or if it had changed somehow).  In any case, I configured the dial-peers to reflect that port change. ie:

dial-peer voice 1000 pots

service mgcpapp

port 0/1/0:1

Configuration Error History:

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi all,

I corrected my issue, but I'm not sure if this is the correct resolution.

I ended up taking away all of the configurations pertaining to voice, and to the controllers.  I reconfigured the ISR with my configs including making the change from voice-port 0/1/0:1 to voice-port 0/1/0:0. It seems to have fix it.
